Message from the President

The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce appreciates everyone who has offered their support over the past year. I would like to extend my appreciation to our chamber members, our board of directors, our ambassadors and each individual who has volunteered to make the chamber what it is today.

As president, my primary goal is to help businesses in the city of Pittsburg to continue to grow & prosper.The Chamber of Commerce represents the business community, and like the business community, it must constantly examine it’s activities to be cost effective in these economically challenging times. This year I am asking the Events and Activities Committee to examine every Chamber event to be sure that everything we do is consistent with our mission-to benefit the business community. The Chamber must do what it does best and leave non-business activities-No matter how fun or established-to others.

Your Chamber’s New Year begins with the decision of your Board to take the Chamber in a new direction. The many tasks and decisions that make a successful Chamber of Commerce will be the responsibility of our volunteer members and directors, assisted-but not led by-our qualified staff. In order to spread the responsibilities and promote volunteer involvement and leadership, the Chamber will establish new Committees to ensure our new direction is on course.

New committee chairpersons will be encourage to recruit members who are not members of the Chamber Board of Directors to serve on their committees. This will create a pool of people involved with the Chamber from which we can select future directors. If you are in business in Pittsburg, expect your phone to ring. If you are a Chamber member, expect to get involved. If not, expect to be asked to join.

Once again, I am honored to represent this organization, support our new direction, work with our team, and look forward to the upcoming year!
