The Pittsburg Seafood Festival is in its 26th year. This year’s Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, September 11th & 12th and will once again, be kicked off with the California Zinfandel Championship & Dinner held Friday evening, before the start of the Festival, on September 10th. The Grand Championship Prize and the Double Gold Medals will be awarded during the sit-down gourmet seafood affair in the Festival’s Wine Pavilion Tent, on the festival site.

Every Zinfandel producer in California will be invited to participate. The list of producers is derived from wineries reviewed in popular magazines and from information about producers listed in “Wines and Vines” Magazine. 

The prizes will be Bronze, Silver, Gold and Double Gold Medals. The blind tasting will be held during the summer months by well known wine connoisseurs and vintners. Their selections will lead up to the final Grand Championship tasting. In addition, the judges will bestow the “Best Buy” award to quality Zinfandels priced at $10 and under.

The four Double Gold medalist wines will be judged for the Grand Championship award during the Friday night, September 11th, kick off dinner. The judges will be served the four wines blind and will choose the Grand Championship winner at that time. The four wineries  earning Double Gold honors will be invited to attend the dinner and receive their awards in person.
